Privacy Policy

Plain-English version: we help you protect your capital — not harvest your data. Here's exactly what we collect and what we never do.

Last updated: July 2, 2026

GuardMyTrade ("GuardMyTrade," "we," "us") makes a trading self-discipline app that enforces the rules you set for yourself. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the things we deliberately never do.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address, and optionally your name and phone number, so we can sign you in, sync your settings across devices, and contact you about your account.

Broker connections

To enforce your rules, you connect a brokerage account. We never see or store your broker password. Where a broker supports it, we use secure authorization (OAuth) so you log in with the broker directly. Connection credentials and access tokens are encrypted and stored on your own device, not exposed to us.

Trading data

We read your positions, orders, and profit/loss solely to detect when a rule is broken and to place closing orders when a limit is hit. We do not warehouse your full trading history on our servers.

Usage & diagnostics

We collect minimal technical information (for example, lock events, error diagnostics, and device sync status) needed to run the service and keep your protections working across devices.

2. What we never do

  • We never see, store, or transmit your broker password.
  • We never sell, rent, or share your personal or trading data with data brokers or advertisers.
  • We never move, withdraw, or transfer your money, and we never open new speculative trades on your behalf.
  • We don't keep a copy of your complete trading history on our servers.

3. How we use your information

We use the information above only to: enforce the rules you configure; lock and unlock your trading and flatten positions when a limit is reached; sync your status across your devices; notify an accountability partner you designate when a rule is broken; provide support; and keep the service secure and reliable.

4. Sharing with third parties

  • Your broker (for example, Alpaca, Tradovate, or another broker you connect) — we exchange only the data needed to read your account and place closing orders for enforcement.
  • Infrastructure providers that host the service and deliver email, under confidentiality obligations, solely to operate GuardMyTrade.
  • An accountability partner, only if you add one, and only rule-break and lock events — never account access or the ability to trade.
  • Legal — where required by law or to protect the safety and rights of our users.

5. Security

Broker credentials and access tokens are encrypted and kept on your device. Access to your account is mediated by the app; we design the system so a moment of frustration can't quietly hand your data or your money to anyone. No system is perfectly secure, but protecting your account is the entire point of the product.

6. Data retention & your choices

You can stop using GuardMyTrade at any time; cancelling ends enforcement and stops new data collection. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us. Some records may be retained where required for legal, security, or accounting reasons.

7. Children

GuardMyTrade is intended for adults (18+) who trade their own accounts. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above, and where appropriate we'll notify you in the app or by email.
